Forspoken (formerly “Project Athia”) is a new action RPG in development at Square Enix and Luminous Productions and will be available exclusively on PS5 and PC next year.

First announced in 2020, “Forspoken” will put players in control of Frey Holland, played by Ella Balinska of Charlie’s Angels. Frey is a young New Yorker who must harness her newly acquired magical powers to survive in what Square Enix calls a “thrilling otherworldly adventure.” In this game, she attempts to return home from the beautiful but cruel land of Asya.

So far, “Forspoken” has been very engaging. Expect ray tracing, seamless open-world exploration, and cool use of dual-sense controllers.

Forspoken: Cut to the Chase

Forspoken will be released on January 24, 2023, for PlayStation 5 and PC and will be an exclusive title for the PS5 console.

The title was originally scheduled to launch in May 2022 but was delayed by five months to allow developers enough time to refine the RPG; it was confirmed for release on October 11, but as announced on Twitter in July, it has been delayed again and will be pushed back to next year The game will be exclusive to the PS5 console.

The game will be exclusive to the PS5 console, but that doesn’t mean Forspoken won’t be available on Xbox later: PlayStation posted a “new and upcoming games” trailer.

Forspoken is a PS5 timed exclusive

Look at a video posted by the YouTube account in December 2020 featuring a collection of PS5 games. You will see that below the footage of Forspoken (then called “Project Athia”), the tagline “Not available on other consoles until at least 24 months after release date” is written. This means Forspoken will not be available on other consoles until 24 months after the release date.

Forspoken is a PS5 timed exclusive and will not appear on the Xbox Series X/S until at least January 2025. This does not mean that Forspoken will not be available on Xbox, but it does mean that Forspoken will not be available on PS4 or Xbox One. Don’t expect Forspoken to be released on PS4 or Xbox One, but it is being developed to take advantage of the current console hardware.

There is also a Deluxe Edition for $94.99/£89.99/$152.95, which includes the pre-order bonus content plus additional content, including a digital mini art book and mini soundtrack. Tokyo Game Show 2022 Trailer

Square Enix has exhibited strongly at the Tokyo Game Show every year, and this year’s latest installment was no exception. Here we were able to see a new look at the upcoming game. All captions are Japanese except for the automatically translated captions provided.

10-minute gameplay trailer

A new gameplay trailer released in August gave us a better look at what Forspoken looks like, and below you will find new information on locations such as Cipal and Praenost, quests, combat, and more.

Force Poken Dialogue Clip

For Square Enix, this is a trailer to remember. A Twitter clip released before the gameplay trailer showed some of Frey’s dialogue. Unfortunately, this was not well received by many players and was subsequently named. If you are wondering what all the fuss was about, watch the video below.

Clips from Netflix Geeked Week

The 2022 Netflix Geeked Week gave us another look at Forspoken in a new cutscene. Frey actor Ella Balinska appeared, mostly to talk about her role in the current Resident Evil Netflix series. Still, there was an additional surprise, starting around 1:35:50, which you can watch below.

Game Informer Gameplay

Game Informer has posted a video of under 10 minutes of gameplay from 4K Forspoken. In this video, we can see the “horizontal city” in the game and get a good look at traversal and combat.

State of Play March 2022 “Worlds Collide” Trailer

A fresh Forspoken trailer was released for State of Play in March 2022, showcasing some of the enemies that the main character, Frey, faces in the game and the fast-paced magical combat he uses to defeat them. In this trailer, you can also see a bit of Frey using magic to move over water.

Trailer for The Game Awards 2021

A new trailer for Forspoken was released at The Game Awards 2021. The newest trailer shows more of the game’s story and action-packed gameplay but includes the game’s release date of May 24, 2022. However, this has since been pushed back to October 11, 2022.

In Forspoken, players assume the role of Frey, a young New Yorker transported to the beautiful but cruel land of Asshia, where Frey must travel across vast expanses, battle monsters, and master new magical abilities in order to find her way home.

Creative Producer Rao Mitsuno describes Frey as a “smart but still a little immature” 20-year-old woman from New York who, due to her tough upbringing, “doesn’t have much faith in the world” and uses sarcasm and humor to cover up her weaknesses, and then says.

He called her “a good person at heart” as she struggled to escape to New York City. At this point, Frey is transported to the mysterious world of Asya. Here, her arrival sets off a series of events that begin the game’s main storyline, depicting Frey’s journey to find her way home and her ability to use magic.

Also seen in the trailer was a talking bracelet, which turns out to be called “Cuff.” Cuff is another character in the game, and while Mitsuno said it would be some time before we learn more about them, Cuff is important to the game and the story and will guide Frey’s journey. Frey and Cuffe are “good friends” and “say whatever they think.”
