No official announcement has been made, but here’s what the creators have said about the next Cobra Kai season 6 on Netflix.

Lead actor Ralph Macchio has ongoing plans for the show, while the creators have also thrown some hints our way. So, despite the lack of the most official details. We have a pretty good idea of where the “Karate Kid” sequel series is headed.

Cobra Kai Season 6: Is It Happening, and When Could It Be Released?
While there is no official word on whether Cobra Kai Season 6 is happening, Co-creator Hayden Schlossberg told us there is a “time and place” for further announcements. He states, ” There is no official response to (season 6 speculation) right now, except that we have a lot of ideas. There is a time and place for something official, and we are not in that place right now.”

But Ralph Macchio is fanning the flames even further, saying in an interview with Us Magazine, “It’s not official yet. I have to say that because it’s the truth. [But] it’s a pretty good feeling to be able to continue the show and let it evolve and land when it needs to.” In a later interview on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, he said he expects something to happen “very much.”

So it seems to be a certainty. But the one-two punch of a fourth season in December 2021 and the fifth season in September 2022 will not be repeated. But with a popular show, an official announcement could be imminent regardless of ratings; an announcement in October would not be surprising.

As for release dates, we can get a rough idea based on the start of filming in the past. The fourth and fifth seasons were both aired 11 to 12 months after the start of filming. If this is the case again, we can expect season 6 to follow a year after the start of filming; late 2023 or early 2024 would not be out of the realm of possibility.
Who is likely to be in the cast of “Cobra Kai” Season 6?
Most, if not all, of the “Cobra Kai” cast members, are expected to continue for a sixth season. That means Ralph Macchio and William Zabka will return as Daniel Larusso and Johnny Lawrence, respectively.
They will be joined by the children of Karate: Xolo Mariduena, Mary Mouser, Tanner Buchanan, Jacob Bertrand, Peyton List, and Gianni DeCenzo. Devon actor Oona O’Brien may be upgraded to a series regular. In the old cast, Courtney Henggeler and Vanessa Rubio are returning, as is Alicia Hannah Kim as Kim Down. But Mike Burns as Sean Kanan and Yuji Okumoto as Chosen are probably bigger question marks.
Martin Kove as Kreese will play a more significant role in Cobra Kai Season 6 after his dramatic jailbreak in the Season 5 finale. John Hurwitz said, “Potentially wreaking havoc is Kreese, who escaped prison at the last minute.” There’s plenty of drama,” he said.
And what about Thomas Ian Griffiths as Terry Silver? Said Hurwitz, “As for Terry Silver, this may or may not be his last.” ‘You never know with a man of his means and determination. But we love Thomas Ian Griffiths, and it has been great working with him over the last few years. We will see if we can work with him more.
Cobra Kai Season 6 Stories and Possible Theories
Cobra Kai Season 5 ended with Cobra Kai seemingly disbanding, Terry Silver being arrested for various crimes, and Cleese escaping prison. Miguel and Robbie also reconciled, and Johnny finally settled into his new role as a family member.
So far, everything seems to be coming together nicely. But there is still a Sekai Takai tournament on the horizon. Often referred to as the “Super Bowl of karate,” the tournament is on the minds of the production team as they consider the new season.

With a global karate tournament potentially on the agenda, the show has two remaining antagonists to lead it: Kreese and Sensei Kim Da-Eun, who played a key role in Cobra Kai.

Could these two lead the new team into Sekai Takai? It is unlikely that Kenny or Tory will join them, but it is possible. Since they left Cobra Kai, a new character (and competitor) would have to emerge from the shadows to take down Miyagimichi’s prized disciples.
And then there is Johnny, who will be a second dad. Also, there will be no time slips like in “House of Dragons,” which might help accelerate this plot. Terry Silver might die. Terry Silver may die. If he is leaving the karate world, Silver must have one more trick up his sleeve that will allow Sensei to see out this series. Stay tuned.
