Mickey Mouse and friends return to the gaming space with the release of “Disney: Illusion Island,” a Nintendo Switch exclusive from Dlala Studios, developers of 2020’s “Battletoads (The Battletoads)”. The exact release date for this title is unknown, but it is expected to be released around 2023.
Quickly, the most noticeable thing about this title is the art style, which seems to resemble the recent Mickey Mouse cartoon style. Also, this title is a cooperative platformer like “Rayman Legends” and “Rayman Origins”. Like the characters in those Ubisoft games, you can run up and down walls and hover over gaps.
You can play as Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, and Goofy. The game appears to feature current voice actors for characters used in other projects. None of the characters seems to have any special abilities, so all you have to do is choose your favourite of the four and overcome the various obstacles.
While this will likely be a new and unique story and gameplay focus for Mickey and his friends, there have been plenty of high-quality 2D platformers in past instalments of “House of Mice. Castle of Illusion is perhaps the most fondly remembered Mickey Mouse game, released on the Sega Genesis in the 1990s. It was later remade for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. The Illusion series also saw multiple releases, but Illusion Island was the first completely new game in decades to see this naming scheme used.
Those familiar with the Mickey Mouse games will be eagerly awaiting the release of “Disney. Illusion Island” will be eagerly awaiting its release. We hope that more details about this game will be revealed as soon as possible.
