The Sims 4 is the latest installment in the influential sandbox series, offering players the opportunity to create and control their virtual lives more than ever before.

This means that players can control the death of their Sims as well, but just because a Sim dies does not mean their story is over. One “The Sims 4” player recently observed an endearing exchange between the living and the dead.

The Sims series has been around for nearly 20 years, and during that time, players have been able to witness and interact with the ghosts of their deceased Sims; since “The Sims 2,” it has also been possible for pets to return as ghosts.

Redditor winter whispering has released a screenshot depicting a heartwarming and sad moment in “The Sims 4” game. In the image, a small orange and white corgi puppy runs past a larger dog.

Both dogs appear to be playing with brown and red tennis balls, the main difference being that the larger dog is translucent white and dog-shaped. This indicates that the dog is one of the ghosts in The Sims 4.

The post states that the “new puppy met his sister for the first time,” which is consistent with the fact that ghost pets often interact with living sims. In previous games, deceased pets could be seen floating around the house at odd hours.

However, ghost pets in The Sims 4, like ghost sims, can be added to a house and kept indefinitely. Players who particularly enjoy the aesthetics of ghost pets can also keep them by going to the Deadglass Isle pet graveyard at night and feeding their pet of choice Ambrosia pet treats.

At the time of this writing, other fans were deeply affected by the winter whispering screenshots; some users threatened to cry when they saw the interaction between the two pets. One wrote, “My dead sister is ……” posted, suggesting that the scene so moved her before her that she could find no other words to describe it.

Another user gawked at a corgi puppy and began complaining about how difficult it was to get a corgi in “The Sims 4” and how his pet adoption sim kept glitching out.
